Thank you for contacting me about this film. What an excellent resource for my students to learn about this terrible time in our history. I would love to have a copy for my classroom and look forward to hearing from you.

Weather notwithstanding the film played to a packed house at the Croton Free Library on Sunday 2-28-10, with a wonderful Q&A featuring Dr Hooker that followed. There was scarcely a dry eye in the room.Thank you for allowing us to screen the film. I would like to explore additional screenings in the Harlem community in the near future.
Pictures are available if you'd like them

All the best,
Ken Sargeant

sure people where I live will hear about this and
My children will know and we will never forget.

I cannot afford to purchase this dvd at the moment but as soon as I have the money it is number one on my list. This is a very important lesson in history that we cannot afford to miss. We have to look back in-order to know where we are coming from so that our path to the future can be clear and precise. These days our young people have no idea what happened in our recent historical past. They believe by some foolish wisdom that they have arrived with videos such as this they will see what our people went through in order for them to have what they have today. It will give them fresh resolve and hopefully inspire them be greater than they would have been otherwise. GOD bless all the survivors and their family. I am looking forward to watching this with by two boys and sharing it with everyone I know.

That is unpardonable. Besides the riots having a devastating effect, children had to face that kind of denial at school. What does that do to a child's sense of self worth?

Hi Mac,
I am so, so sorry for your family and how the race riots affected the generations to come. Do you know of any survivors' family descendants that live in Norman OK? I haven't thought about this in a long time, but used to think I'd like to be a housekeeper/childcare person for a black family to help right some of the wrongs of slavery and racism. At no charge, because slaves weren't paid. There needs to be healing on both sides.

I am a third generation survivor of this travesty and the city's race relations still have not healed as a result of this devastation. The South did rise again and it occurred in Tulsa. The city will never recover until there is equitable restitution and a sincere apology. All residents who know of that history can not heal until that dark past is brought to the light and forgiven.
